The Most Effective Fat-Soluble Antioxidant

Vitamin E is the most effective fat-soluble antioxidant found in many food sources including nuts, seeds, egg yolks and peanut butter. Most people, though, do not get the recommended dietary allowance of Vitamin E (15 mg) from their diet alone, making supplementation extra important.

The antioxidant effects of Vitamin E were tested by measuring levels of oxidative stress on the skin. Subjects received a supplement of carotenoids or the same supplement with additional Vitamin E. It was found that the addition of Vitamin E provided greater protection against oxidative stress of the skin than carotenoid-only supplements.
