“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.” – Dr. Seuss, author (1904-1991)
I don’t make resolutions. To me there is a self sabotage factor that inevitably follows every one I have ever made. But, I do enjoy the reflection of the past and the forward looking future that is natural for this day. I am going to enjoy this day. I am going to appreciate where I have been and dream big about where I am going.
I am going to roll around on the floor with my kids, write while they nap, go outside if the weather is nice, and watch lots of football. I am going to eat food that would never fit in with any health resolution (another reason I don’t make them). I will not stress.
Today, I want to encourage you to look back at 2007 with productive eyes, take what’s important, leave what’s not, and then turn back around.
Look deep into 2008 with child-like eyes. Remember that wonder is not a bad thing. While stepping into the unknown is not limited to New Year’s Day, there is a point of passage that happens when the year changes. Embrace it and know you have control of all the places you will go.
It’s a fun coincidence that the first issue of 2008’s Turn Around Tuesday falls on News Year’s Day. Kind of symbolic of the whole purpose of regular renewal.
As many of you know, I enjoy the internet community that is the blogosphere. Blogging has becoming a integral part of what I do and it has introduced me to numerous people and opportunities.
Therefore, there is a new addition to Turn Around Tuesday. Originally, the quotes were obtained from wherever I found good ones. Now, they will come from or be inspired by a blog. That blog will be cited at the end of the article. I hope you will take a minute each week to check it out. I am betting you will really like what you find there.
